Here at QuickandBig.com we are absolutely delighted to offer for sale, this practical modern classic, our unique face lift Alpina B10 Switchtronic 3.3 24v saloon, presented in BMW Individual Bluewater Metallic, with Montana Black leather interior, it’s rarer than hen’s teeth, in fact it’s the only Bluewater Metallic, B10 3.3 Saloon in the world!
Not only is it unique, its only travelled 71,176 miles, has a comprehensive history, is one of the very last 3.3 B10’s made, it was originally a Sytner Sheffield demonstrator and has been enthusiast owned since. In short, its outstanding.
Total BMW Magazine understand the Alpina’s rarity, its just been the subject of a 7 page feature in the Sept 23 edition of the Magazine (out now). A data stick of images from the shoot accompanies the car (the last 3 above are from the shoot). Huge thanks to Jason Dodd, the Photographer and Reads Restaurant with Rooms, Faversham for the venue.
Prices of E39 M5’s are quickly rising, contemporary Alpina’s are following a similar trajectory, as those of us who fondly remember the top end car’s of the nineties and noughties can now afford to collect, drive and hold these modern classics as investments.
We love the fact that Alpina independently produced, upgraded and enhanced the “Ultimate Driving Machine”, and as such created rarer, bespoke vehicles. I hope now that Alpina is owned by BMW, that its independence, creativity and engineering integrity is not diluted by the accountants!
Our beautiful example comes with a comprehensive service history of at least 11 service stamps, most recently in June 2022, at 70,162 miles (less than 1000 miles ago).
The B10 3.3 was based on the face lifted E39 and debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, replacing the 3.2. With many enhancements over the US spec M3 engine on which it was based. Including: increased capacity, cylinder head tuning, new exhaust manifold, light weight Mahle pistons, new crankshaft, resulting in a high revving, silky smooth straight 6, that developed 280bhp, and 335Nm of torque. Enough for a 6 seconds dash to 60mph, and on to 163mph.
Body work changes include a rear boot spoiler and deep front valance, the suspension and brakes were also upgraded. The interior benefitted from further Alpina enhancements: sports seats in full leather, hand stitched steering wheel with Switchtronic gear change buttons, Alpina door sills and dash instruments. It of course also has its Alpina Silver plated plaque, confirming it was one of the last 10 made, its build number as 223.
Our example comes equipped with the 5 speed Switchtronic auto gear box complete with working steering wheel shift buttons. Using it now puts a smile on your face, 20+ years ago using steering wheel gear shift must have felt futuristic.
According to the Alpina Archive, only 240 B10 3.3 saloons were produced worldwide, approximately 180 are known to survive, with around 90 left in the UK. According to how many left, only 7 were registered in the UK in 2002. Again according to the archive, ours was the only example produced worldwide in BMW Individual Blue Water. A unique collector’s car indeed.
FG52OSJ was first registered on 1/10/2002, having covered a total of 71,176 miles (on average less than 4,000 a year). Having had only 3 previous keepers. We believe its 1st owner was Sytner Sheffield, as a demonstrator, it passed to its 1st long term owner when only 5 months old.
The service book comes with proof of 11 services (including the important running in service, plus the Alpina PDI), 9 at main dealers and BMW specialists, a number of maintenance receipts accompany the car, our B10’s comprehensive history is summarised below:
4/4 - 2k miles - Sytner Sheffield

Many thanks for wading through our lengthy description, we believe it’s better to describe our cars fully. It is not in our interest to waste your time or ours with inaccurate descriptions. It does of course have the odd age related imperfection (which used car doesn’t), but for its age and mileage it really is excellent. A special car, for the serious enthusiast, collector and investor.
Our unique Alpina B10 3.3 really does tick all the QuickandBig.com boxes, quick, big, super low mileage, beautifully presented, comprehensively maintained, perfect for car shows, appreciating in value and super rare, you wont find another one!
Our iconic Alpina really is a unique opportunity. Don’t kick yourself in 10 years time that you didn’t buy it, (like I do every day about the 2 Sierra Cosworths I broke to build kit cars!)
Please visit the photographs and our terms and conditions again as they form part of the description, and use the “contact us” tab at the top of the page, to arrange a viewing / test drive by appointment. Any inspection is of course welcome.
