We know this desirable Alpina well, this is the 3rd time we have been lucky enough to offer it for sale, both previous owners having bought from us again and therefore part exchanged it back.

Here at QuickandBig.com we are proud to offer for sale, this fantastic, super rare, high spec, Alpina D3 BiTurbo (LCI) manual. We believe its the only one currently for sale in the UK. Its a car we know well, having been lucky enough to have sold it a few years ago, to a valued customer who has upgraded to a larger car, and has part exchanged the Alpina back with us (the above pictures are library images from the last time we sold the car, they will be updated soon).

The desirable Alpina D3 BiTurbo, was launched in 2008, as a replacement for the single turbo D3. The face lift Touring (E91) was available in very limited numbers. We believe only 73 Touring’s came to the UK, 69 are believed to be left and only 15 were in Black Sapphire, you are unlikely to see another, particularly with a manual gearbox.

Alpina choose the four cylinder diesel engine from the 123d, as the basis for the D3 BiTurbo, this engine was not available in the “normal” 3 Series. Engine modifications included larger turbo, injectors and intercooler, along with a modified ECU. These Alpina modifications increased power to 211bhp, 450Nm of torque, 400Nm of it available from only 1500 rpm. Back in the day it developed more bhp per litre than any other BMW road car. It was available with switchtronic (auto) gearbox and the more desirable 6 speed manual, as seen here.

Alpina’s signature styling of, deep front splitter (with logo), rear valance, larger cat back exhaust, optional roof spoiler, 19 inch Alpina Classic wheels, Alpina branded instrument dials, sports suspension, seats and steering wheel, along with Alpina’s signature silver plated numbered plaque (ours is no. 266).

The D3 BiTurbo bridged the performance gap between the 325d and 330d with a quoted 0-60 mph of less than 7 seconds, and a top speed of over 150mph. The rare Alpina also bought a level of styling, performance and exclusivity to the 3 Series, whilst still delivering excellent economy, delivering up to a quoted real world 52 mpg, it is also lighter, more economical and emits less CO2 than the 325d and 330d. At only 146g/km its only £215 per annum road tax.

Crucially (unlike its BMW contemporaries) it doesn’t use rock hard run flat tyres, its Michelin Pilot Super Sports giving an impressively smooth ride, (our Alpina still runs on this original fitment rubber). Turn in is also quicker than its 325 / 330d siblings due to the 100kg plus weight advantage.

Car Magazine summed it up pretty well, their verdict was:

“Cleaner and greener than any equivalent BMW, the Alpina is a winner. Only engine snobs will bemoan the lack of prestige from having a four-pot under the bonnet. But we want one, in Touring guise please.”

FJ60NBA was first registered on 15/12/10, having covered 115,348 miles. It has had only 5 former keepers. Its been enthusiast owned, much of its maintenance performed by brand specialists. It also benefits from an excellent specification including wide screen sat nav.

It comes with a comprehensive service history (in the original Alpina service book) of 8 services records, as below:
